Not A, but B 要平行,但是这里的A是名词B是宾语,怎么平行??请牛人指教

我做PREP的错题多数错在用以前形成的解题模式一开始就把正确选项排除了.这道也是.
这道题PREP语法解析排除C的原因是说but有做prep.的歧义.我认为倒不会:因为but用做prep.习惯用法是nothing(anthing) but, the last but one/the next but two ..读者读到这里绝对不会expect but是个prep.
我认为这里D比C好的原因在于"simply"的出现,simply最合理的是去修饰are,如果不补出are,simply会去修饰random.如果没simply,C绝对比D好.

可是若是像2楼所说的
就算补出了are , simply 也可以修饰random啊??

可是若是像3楼说的
                我就不懂一个be在not前面
                一个be却在but后面
                这样也算平行吗??

LZ，

not A but B句型之间是没有逗号的。那么A/B完成对称。

本题不要把它看作是not..but，而是...,but...。not只是be的否定词。

but和and一样，需要平行。

所以本题结构：aren't A, but are B。
