我得问题与未划线部分的BUT有关，在这里BUT应该是作副词来理解
but adv. Merely; just; only:另一种是加强语气。
如果这里的BUT作ONLY 来理解，正确答案就只能选单数位于动词的从句了。

还有一个问题在A中as a way to 是不是太累赘了？？

我也有同样的疑问，当时做这个题目时，我选的是C

我也觉得but有问题，as a way to 读的不爽
