这道题目的答案是E，但是我觉得没有划线的部分their指代的是chimpanzees，而E选项的they指代的是other animals，不一致啊！请麻烦解释一下吧，谢谢大家。

本題有逗點哦，表示兩個獨立子句，所以their是指chimpanzees,they則指other animals

可是语法规则说一个句子中的同样的代词不可能指代两个不同的东西的，为什么啊？

I have some problem with E. "if they were studied in as much depth."

The sentence omits "as champazees were"

Is this ommission correct?
