标题: 请教补充材料的33提
33. The spraying of pesticides can be carefully planned, but accidents, weather conditions that could not be foreseen, and pilot errors often cause much larger deposits of spray than they had anticipated.

(B) weather conditions that cannot be foreseen, and pilot errors often cause much larger deposits of spray than
(C) unforeseeable weather conditions, and pilot errors are the cause of much larger deposits of spray than they had
(D) weather conditions that are not foreseeable, and pilot errors often cause much larger deposits of spray than
(E) unforeseeable weather conditions, and pilot errors often cause much larger deposits of spray than they had
答案:B。请问than anticipated 补全是什么呢?
作者: 深海的小美人鱼 时间: 2003-12-13 12:07
补全应该是
than it is anticipated
作者: bettyofarim 时间: 2003-12-13 12:26
那就是 IT 指代spraying吧?谢谢!
作者: Snazzy 时间: 2003-12-13 13:18

补全应该是
than it is anticipated
than anticipated 是近似于习语的东东。补全了,我觉得应该是上面的这种形式。其实补全是画蛇添足~~~

weather conditions that cannot be foreseen和unforeseeable weather conditions有什么区别吗?
作者: 心晴 时间: 2004-7-1 06:55
好像是foreseen是强调动作,unforeseeable是强调特征,这里应该强调动作的。
作者: but10 时间: 2005-5-29 15:57
unforeseen 好于 not foreseeable, 因为与之前的spraying … be … planned 对应
作者: 小葵 时间: 2005-5-30 15:27
没有对应关系吧,than anticipated的正确用法是关键
作者: nevia 时间: 2005-6-21 19:24
(B) weather conditions that cannot be foreseen,
(D) weather conditions that are not foreseeable,
any difference? Why B is prefered?

ding, i have the same qustion too...

以下是引用but10在2005-5-29 15:57:00的发言:unforeseen 好于 not foreseeable, 因为与之前的spraying … be … planned 对应

首先,can't(情态)不能随便改成aren't,然后foreseen(动词)好于foreseeable(形容词),再次即使D无伤大雅的话,也是罗索,n+that be adj,可以缩写成adj+n呀
请指正

问题是现在没有adj+n让你选啊.B,D都是that+从句啊.
我当时是考虑了 foreseeable后面有个able词根,觉得可以代替can了,而且B又被动,所以排除之.....
OG解释也不是很明白,一句不够简洁和不够idiom就把我打发了

虽然不用对应,但用The spraying of pesticides can be carefully planned, but accidents, weather conditions that can not be foreseen,..... 有一种语感上的连贯,大家可以多读几遍体会一下。

补足以后应该是 than what they are anticipated 吧
作者: qwedcxzas 时间: 2007-12-26 19:15
我认为不用加what吧
deposits of spray than (deposits are) anticipated
加了what变成deposits和what子句比较了吧
有错请指正

这是在一个国外论坛看到的:
My approach:
I have reached to this conclusion within 45 seconds:-
1. As "they" does not have clear reference, all the options having "they" can be easily eliminated. So, A, C, and E are out.
2. Now, we are in between B and D. We should bear in mind that modal auxiliaries should not be replaced by "be verbs". It has been done in D. Using "be verb" in stead of "modal", D has distorts the meaning of the sentence.
Look:
Can you play cricket? [It means that I have doubt on your ability to play cricket.]
Do you play cricket? [It means that I have no doubt that you can play cricket. My question is whether you play or not.]
Hope, this help.
