标题: Chicago GSB & Kellogg 2008 part time MBA
本人现在美国工作, 上个月递交了Chicago GSB 和 Kellogg 2008 MBA (Spring)的申请. 刚收到Chicago的录取通知, 还在等Kellogg的.

大部分的CDer是申请full time MBA的. 但不知是否有在美国申请part time MBA的朋友? 若是有相同经历的朋友, (不论是准备申请, 已申请, 被录取或是已开学的) 不知是否有兴趣联系一下? 说不准我们会成为classmate.

谢谢. 我报的是evening. 如果有可能, 尽量报evening, 因为evening 比 weekend 有更多的时间和同学交流.

no special background, G730 (T waived), 10yrs w/e (audit + consulting + product manager), 5yrs in China + 5yrs in US

which semester are you going to start? 2008 spring? have you already submitted application?

I haven't submitted my applications yet, still working on the essay I am PhD (feel like waste of time) with 3 years working experience.

I think your background is very strong, MBA should be a big plus for your career.

btw thymec, do you have any suggestion about writing essay for Chicago and Kellog? Any special consideration for the part-time program?

Writing essays for part-time MBA should be the same as writing essays for full-time. There're lots of helpful posts in CD regarding how to write essays. The most important things are to make yourself stand out (variety) and fit the culture of the school (fit).

The only special consideration that I can think of is that not all the part-time students are career changers. That means you have to specify your goal clearly between advancing career to the next level within your current job function and pursuing career opportunities in a new function area.

Nice to find you guys. I am also thinking about applying these two schools. But I may more prefer Kellogg since my marketing background. And I have to wait for a while for enrollment. Since I am currently not in IL.

Yeah, I am thinking about transferring to Chicago field office after I receive the admission. It may not be safe to switch jobs since I am on I-485 waiting... This is the reason I am hesitate to apply for 2008.

I am going to add you to my MSN list, I do have some questions about Kellogg's essay.

I don't know the policy of other companies. For the company I work, it
only reimburses $5000 a year before tax. So it won't help much.

Chicago GSB's part-time program is as strong as the full-time one. I also think evening will be better than weekends. It is said that the part-time program will take classes in downtown Gleacher Center. Envy you guys!

Some company does sponsor the tuition, like GE.

LS is NN. Darden's full scholarship! I believe you will get offer from Chicago and MIT as well. Chicago part-time MBA program is at downtown/Gleacher Center. I was living in the walking distance to Gleacher Center. The enviroment there is much better than Hyde Park.

If I were five years younger, I would quit my job and go for full-time. But now, the opportunity cost of full-time is too high. sigh...

Wow, u live so close to Gleacher Center?! And the lake.... Jealous....

If I were u, I won't go full-time either. Hope I can get a chance to go Gleacher Center someday......
