However, the available information about the bank’s condition is from reliable and informed sources, and corporate executives do sometimes buy shares in their own company in a calculated attempt to calm worries about their company’s condition. On balance, therefore, it is likely that the executives of the bank are following this example.

第二个Bold的地方很明显是结论啊，正确答案应该在A和C之间的吧。

我讲一下我的思路请各位nn帮忙指正

第一个boldface描述一种情况=activity

这个activity令人讶异因为…………

中间结论表示it might seem that their share purchases show that the danger of collapse is exaggerated.

However,是另有它因= corporate executives do sometimes buy shares in their own company in a calculated attempt to calm worries about their company’s condition.

第二句最后总结很可能银行正跟随这个例子(应指上面however的部份)…….

所以可能C选,因为第二句应是支持However的说法,而这however是在反上面说法

但第一句又不像evidence还是A选啊??????????

请nn指正…………

我觉得肯定是A。。。
最后一句肯定是conclusion
所以A or C
然后明显第一句话不是用来defend the position this argument seek to establish的。
所以是A啦。。。不知道分析对不。。。

个人见解

文章中的conclusion是corporate executives do sometimes buy shares in their own company in a calculated attempt to calm worries about their company’s condition. 而BF的部分,实际上是作者举出的事例, 第一张脸是作者举出的一个已发生事实,它既是文章的解释对象,又是作为作为evidence,用来支持解释的结论.而第二张脸是对于未来现实的推断,应该也是作为一种evidence,从未来的角度来证明支持结论.

抛砖啦...

我觉得A是准确的。看GWD 16-33的解释。

同时还在GWD 21-28重复出现过一次，不过考点不一样。如下：

Since it has become known that several of a bank’s top executives have been buying shares in their own bank, the bank’s depositors, who had been worried by rumors that the bank faced impending financial collapse, have been greatly relieved. They reason that since top executives evidently have faith in the bank’s financial soundness, those worrisome rumors must be false. They might well be overoptimistic, however since corporate executives have sometimes bought shares in their own company in a calculated attempt to dispel negative rumors about the company’s health.

In the argument given, the two boldfaced portions play which of the following roles?

The first summarizes the evidence used in the reasoning called into question by the argument; the second states the counterevidence on which the argument relies.

我是GMAT菜鸟，不过我boldfaced题几乎没错过.

我认为2是main conclusion比较明确,"therefore" 是核心词，排除B\D\E.

A\C的区别在于1的描述,

it might seem that their share purchases show that the danger of collapse is exaggerated.

是midconclusion,也就是C选项里的opposing positions,

1是一个解释，或者说一个客观事实．

C选项说1是defend（支持）立场来against（反对）这个opposing positions（对立的立场）的证据，也就是说1是支持main conclusion的一个证据，说法非常牵强。

A选项说1是一个与论点补充资源相关的情况解释，比较贴切．

所以，我支持Ａ选项

第一句是个事实，即使后面出现however，也并没有驳斥这个事实，而是驳斥了通过这个事实得出的观点。第一句话就是一个文章要解释的事实而已，后面的所有内容都是为了解释这个现象，所以结构是：事实，观点一，however，观点二。
