偶认为c中分次和as从句的修士对象都不明确。

C is logically wrong, nuclear reactors split... don't merge ..., but here it's not clear

as 对比 nuclear reactors 和Nuclear fusion 的不同.C 和容易理解为nuclear reactors也是merging the nuclei of atoms rather than splitting them apart.

歧义

谁讲as一定只修饰最近的部分了? as 是两个对象不同的比较. E 就很干净地避开了这个歧义

C、B容易理解为nuclear reactors也是merging the nuclei of atoms rather than splitting them apart；而且从逻辑意思上看，并不是因为fusion is the force that powers the Sun, the stars, and hydrogen bombs---才merging the nuclei of atoms rather than splitting ，这里就产生了逻辑意思错误。A、B、C错误。

E，正确。规避了上述错误。是省略的写法。and（force ） merges the nuclei of atoms.

这道题很经典。
