我选D B: Because ... thus 错 C: because ... so 错 E: ability of doing 错 OG 117 明确指出这种用法 unidiomatic ，还有， 即使无此错误，and 连接的两部分应该平行对应，不应该分词和不定时同时出现；另外，produce offspring of large numbers 用法也有问题，这里应强调 large numbers 比较容易迷糊的选项是 A，单从语法角度讲， A不错，但从意思上分析，（尤其和 D 比较），D 优。这里讲由于昆虫具备某些能力，所以才如何如何。而 A 的意思是应为他们能做甲和乙，因此如何如何。逻辑意思有差距。
对于 D，大家可能对 capability to 的用法有怀疑， 我查了牛津字典，capability to do sth和 capability of doing sth 均可。另外，OG 87 题， 就有 capability to 的用法。 在此题中， their capability to reproduce and to produce 完美搭配，yearly 也好过each year 因此， D 最佳。
