the rising of the moon or the sun就是习惯的表达，没有为什么

查了Longman，rise作动词时有专门一个词条表示太阳，星星，或月亮的升起，而作名词时则没有这个意思：

sun/moon/star
to appear in the sky [≠ set]:

Look up a word starting with D or S for samples of headword or sentence pronunciations on the LDOCE CD-ROM

The sun rises in the east.

所以，rise of the moon是nonidomatic的
