73.Alaska regularly deposits some of its profits from the sale of oil into a special fund, with the intention to sustain the state’s economy after the exhaustion of its oil reserves.
(A) fund, with the intention to sustain the state’s economy after the exhaustion of its oil reserves
(B) fund, the intention of which is to sustain the state’s economy after they have exhausted their oil reserves
(C) fund intended to sustain the state’s economy after oil reserves are exhausted

答案是C，没问题
A错在那里呢？？
B中 the intention of which 对吗？

A中with the intention的逻辑主语应该是Alaska，with虽然有跳跃修饰的功能，但这里前面的可修饰成分太多，会有歧义。而且A太罗嗦。动词优于抽象名词，这条原则还是很好用的。
B中the intention of which，which指代fund，但the intention of的逻辑主语应该是Alaska

我觉得逻辑上不可以，fund怎么会有intention呢，如果intention可以的话，那答案C里的fund可以用intending修饰吧，而不是intended了。

intention

问题越来越多了，我开始做题，看到选项C，intended to想也没想，就认为修饰前面的名词，那就是fund

给这么一反问，确实有问题！！！

那么这个intended to修饰什么？？

   答案是C，没问题
   A错在那里呢？？
   B中 the intention of which 对吗？

我觉得这里的A，with the intention to ----会不会引起歧义呀？一方面它可以做状语修饰deposits这个动作（这点我可以确定），另一方面，它可以做定语修饰fund。（这个我不确定，n.+，+介词短语，这里的介词短语可以做定语修饰n.么？我感觉可以）。
B这里如果改为whose intention可不可以呀，感觉有点怪，不过不是很清楚。
还望给予指点！

过去分词不是优先修饰紧靠的名词吗？？

   LIZAZ MM的意思是说FUND不可能有intention，我从来还没想过定语从句还要考虑逻辑主语的问题，只是觉得the intention of which，就是说：资金的目的是。。。。。感觉也能说通

intention有主观意图的概念，所以Alaska才有intention或Alaska才会intend to do sth，而fund是被意图用来sustain the state’s economy的，所以用过去分词intended来修饰fund。

不过这到题很容易排除，A，B都很罗嗦，而且B中后面的they也不对，应该用it指代Alaska

ecsniffer的感觉没错，“逗号+with短语”确实可以修饰逗号前的名词。例子如下：

985. Those who have visited the Grand Canyon have typically seen layers of sediment in the gaping canyon, with different colors that mark the passage of time like the rings in a tree trunk.

(A) seen layers of sediment in the gaping canyon, with different colors that mark

(B) see layers of sediment in the gaping canyon, whose different colors mark

(D) been able to see layers of sediment in the gaping canyon, with different colors marking（D）

(E) seen layers of sediment in the gaping canyon, marking by different colors

大全给的答案是D。不过，jnlvo的大全简注上引用了Kaplan的解释，Kaplan说这题答案是A，理由就是have seen比have been able to see简洁。

a good question!

这里的be able to确实有问题，be able to是主观上有能力去做某事！这里面后面看到的是 layers of sediment in the gaping canyon，到底是抽象的景观蕴含着有些人没有能力看到这个东西呢？还是实际的景观，大家都能看见的！我觉得这里不可能说参观过的人通常都有能力看到...，应该是参观过的人都能看到...，这个能是客观的；这里的be able to有问题。支持kaplan的答案！

根据正选C的话，intended....是 fund的定语从句

那么它就不能改写成独立结构，因为独立结构是状语从句的简化，只能起状语的作用。

B的问题，除了they的指代以外，还有结构的问题：即句子1，句子2。逗号不能连接两个独立的主谓结构。

a错在with the intention to搭配错，应该是with the intention of doing....

b是因为后面的they发生指代错误，我觉的the intention of which没有错阿

intended to在句子末尾就近修饰前面的名词阿，所以c是对的就说明fund的目的的。。。。

是不是阿

非常好的讨论我终于弄明白intend系列的问题了总结一下

with the intention/intent of doing

intended to do

在正常的情况下是没有with the intention to do但是有intention to do

然而在法律用词上Longman中解释说是有动机 (就是我们常常说有作案动机这个意思在之前所有的intend系列中都是没有考过的因为是法律用词嘛)

law the intention to do something illegal这个是说在法律上是这么用的所以正常的时候不用with intent to do sth.

with intent (to do something)

Jones was found guilty of wounding with intent. He is charged with possession of a gun with intent to commit a robbery.

基本上就是这样
