标题: 申请ACCT phd, 请大家帮忙看看背景

HKUST 本科, major in Finance, minor in Math, exchange student to UC Berkeley 一学期

GMAT 710/5.5

GPA 3.5

没有研究经验

本校 ACCT prof from Canada推荐, 准备同时找本校phd coordinator推荐, finance prof, 2phd in the US, 如果能找到berkeley数学或金融prof推荐有无帮助?

还没有着手申请工作, 刚申请了学校成绩单,迷茫中...

简单咨询了几个prof, 说是phd in finance基本没戏, 可以试试phd in acct, 就业形势还不错,也比finance容易读, 但是phd每年只招很少的人,直接招undergraduate就更少, 不知道是不是一点希望都没有. 如果申请加拿大或者欧洲的phd 是否容易些? 或者申请master? 申请master的话是不是奖学金就很悬了?

迷茫中..希望得到大家的指点..谢谢

I suggest you try, and apply some MPhil programs in HK for backup.

If I try to apply for Phd, what universities do you suggest? in the US or Canada or Europe? Do you think I should also apply for some masters in the US?

HK Mphil is hard too since there are very few programs.

Please refer to my post before about accounting PhD and do some research yourself to select the schools. It's hard for me to make a list cuz there are too many good schools.

You can also try some accounting programs in the US, or even economcis programs (I will prefer Econ).

sure, you're right, there are too many schools. Maybe I should make it clear, what ranking of school do you suggest that I can apply? say 30-50? 50-100? Are those schools from Canada and Europe easier to get in than the US ones? and What about masters? sorry for asking too many questions

看着12分scale的GGA完全不知道怎么改算……

Make a portfolio of schools and focus on those 30-50. Actually there is no good ranking for accounting PhD programs, so I should not say about the ranking stuff. The rule that you choose the school is to see whether you can find good professors that you can work with.. It is not difficult to search all the accounting PhD progarms.

Some schools outside US are good. UT, UBC.. in Canada and some in UK. Try if you are interested.

Master's program: If you can afford it and are willing to spend another one or two year, it is also a good option. It will increase your chance of getting admited, sometimes significantly.

to nancy1987, 我觉得吧把每门课都自己按照 A+ 4 A 4 A-3.7 B+3.3 B 3...自己算一下....
