126. More than thirty years ago Dr. Barbara McClintock, the Nobel Prize winner, reported that genes can "jump," as pearls moving mysteriously from one necklace to another.(A)    as pearls moving mysteriously from one necklace to another
(B)    like pearls moving mysteriously from one necklace to another
(C)    as pearls do that move mysteriously from one necklace to others
(D)    like pearls do that move mysteriously from one necklace to others
(E)    as do pearls that move mysteriously from one necklace to some other one
Choices C, D, and E are all faulty because the verb do suggests that the migrating pearls are presented as a real phenomenon, not as a figurative illustration.这里说用do,就会使pearl moving变成是真是的现象，而非比喻，我真的还是第一次看到这种说法呢！！大牛们的看法呢？

og中解释到“ Choices C, D, and E are all faulty because the verb do suggests that the migrating pearls are presented as a real phenomenon, not as a figurative illustration. ”我是这么理解的，在C，D, E中do都代替jump，那么拿C来做例子，(C) as pearls do that move mysteriously from one necklace to others也就等于说as pearls jump that move mysteriously from one necklace to others，"pearls jump"就成为了一种真实的描述。而like pearls moving mysteriously from one necklace to another中省去了jump这个动词，就避免了这种可能性。
我的解释可能很牵强，还望指正！

如果是后者，助动词do怎么可以省略呢？

如果补助助动词，则助动词必然指向前面的某个动词，在本题则是jump。拿C举例，do还原成动词后变成。

是gene与pearl，gene can "jump"的方式与pearl move的方式做比喻，并不是说他们的动作是一样的，所以不是动作的比较
