885 section C-7
7.For some reason the new consultant treats his clients like idiots, talking to them like they were mentally deficient and incapable of understanding more than the simplest ideas.
(A) like idiots, talking to them like they
(B) as if they were idiots, talking to them like they
(C) like idiots, talking to them as if they
(D) as idiots, talking to them like they
(E) like idiots who

treat sth. as sth.-----consider sth. in a certain way是一个idiom
eg. I decided to treat his remark as a joke.

1、本题的关键是 like 不能引导句子,用 as if

No matter how patiently they explain their reasons for confiscating certain items, travelers often treat customs inspectors like wanton poachers rather than government employees.
(A) travelers often treat customs inspectors like wanton poachers rather than government employees
(B) travelers often treat customs inspectors as wanton poachers instead of government employees
(C) travelers often treat customs inspectors as if they were not government employees but wanton poachers
(D) customs inspectors are often treated by travelers as if they were wanton poachers rather than government employees

treat sb as/like sb or sth ------- my mom always treats me as/like  a kid
as WERE is not underlined, so there is no other choice than using subjunctive moom
C is best

for that additional example, I think B is also ok.

D is the answer,

they优先指代主句中的主语,thus B , they=travelers. D: they=customs inspectors
right?

1, He treats his subordinates like dogs. Nobody likes him.
2, bluestone is right, the subjects of the main clause and the subordinating clause should match

From Longman

[always + adverb/preposition]to behave towards someone or something in a particular way
treat somebody like/as something
She treats me like one of the family.Penny doesn't think her co-workers treat her as an equal. He treated his automobiles almost as tenderly as he did his wife.

看来like/as都可以,以前还真不知到like可以.

section C-7

For some reason the new consultant treats his clients like idiots, talking to them like they were mentally deficient and incapable of understanding more than the simplest ideas.

 (C) like idiots, talking to them as if they

 (E) like idiots who(逻辑错,were mentally deficient and incapable应修饰clients)-前人给的解释

我搞不明白E哪里不对,逻辑也没有错阿,new consultant 把clients当成idiots对待,怎么样的idiots?-were mentally deficient and incapable。。。的idiots,不管were mentally deficient and incapable。。。

而且e不是更简洁么,idiots有很多种,were mentally deficient and incapable of 。。。

"idiots有很多种,were mentally deficient and incapable of 。。。
