标题: 硕士还是博士--请大家帮一个迷惘者看看情况

因为背景不牛(国内普通大学金融本科, GMAT730+5, ibt 103, GPA3.5-3.6, 无paper), 所以本来是想申请金融学硕士的, 想读完后再读博士. 材料也已经准备了好些日子了.但后来考虑了很长时间, 认为如果直接申请博士似乎更好些, 因为读完硕士如果不能立即申请成功博士的话,就只能先去工作了.一来相比之下, 我对industry不是太感兴趣: 二来, 也是最重要的,我担心工作后就沉不下心来再读书了.而读博士是我长久以来的梦想! 我真的很希望出去读博士, 可我不知道自己有没有希望, 因为我实在是一个小的不能再小的小虾米(尤其与本版上众多申请博士的牛牛比起来), 本科学校很不起眼, 又没有什么研究背景.

我该申请硕士还是博士? 恳请诸位指点!小女在此拜谢了!

谢谢各位的指点!那同一个学校的同一专业对材料的要求一样吗(包括推荐信和个人陈述)? 还是有不同的侧重点? 因为我一直查的都是硕士的要求, 现在恐怕来不及再一个一个学校去查对博士的要求了.

gpa sounds ok since it is undergradaute, but for undergraduate student without any charming character, i would say chance is kind of slim.

pku, tsinghua or fudan is necessary, 5% rank in the department is also necessary, these together are not sufficient, luck is important, for undergraduate applicant, your school brand is the most important, then if your school passes the screening rule, then your gpa or rank.

well, since for ug student school is important, how about school in hk? like HKU or HKUST?

GPA I think is not a big problem in this case. Unlike a postgraduate, 3.5+ is good for an undergraduate student.If possible, work for 1 yr for a fortune 500 company as like management trainee or sth. It would be much better for you to apply business school if you get nice working experience.
