我选Ａ了，答案也是Ａ，但是有疑问Not only放句首要倒裝, 所以and之後應該用give吧，怎么能是gave. Not only…but also兩者後面所帶入的東西要相同屬性,本提前後含有轉折意味,不適合用not only but also. OG裡有提到but it also破壞了not only…but also的句型.还有答案选Ｄ，他理由是Created跟gave平衡, it代clearing清楚表示轉折句意.请ＮＮ看看，怎么想才更有说服力呢？

这道题有什么问题吗？用not only but also没错呀，递进关系

个人对于not only but also的用法的理解是

1。当连接两个非完整句子的时候，直接用not only .... but also...连接两个成分
2。当连接的是两个完整句子的时候，由于句子之间需要连词，所以but充当了连词的作用，not only, but it also

如果说OG里说but it also破坏了结构，那么but also连接的肯定是两个非句子成分

D中，not only ...but also根本没有用完整，所以错了

gwd说这题错了，有个note

Note: Guan, Weidong told me that ETS made the question wrong. The answer should be “A” on the condition of “it but also”.

但我也没看出来这个note是啥意思，not only but also 翻译成不但...而且最准确，表达的是递进的含义，这个句子明显是转折的。

这个我选B，因为它逻辑清晰，平行结构的用法完全符合OG。

我看别的帖子了，很多同学把which理解成the systematic clearing of forests ，这是不对的。which紧接在farmland后面，正确。有几本英汉词典把farmland狭义地译作“农田”，其实英语里它有“农庄”的意思。即a rural area where farming is practiced。只有农庄或者农场能给消费者提供住房和家具，这是常识。通过systematic clearing of forests ，可以开垦出农田（由此到农庄的建立），但决不会是systematic clearing of forests 提供住房和家具。所以A。C。D。E。全都是错的，不但语法错误，而且逻辑错误！

我的意见：

the systematic clearing of forests是指对森林有计划（持续地）采伐，这里作主语，因为有倒装结构，所以正常应该是：

TSCO not only created farmland but also caused erosion 标准的平行结构。

which紧接在farmland后面，是非限制性定语从句，修饰farmland,怎么会有歧义？

句意but后表转折，it指代the systematic clearing of forests ，not only but also 结构用在这里表意有误，作者想说明的是“在美国系统清理森林虽然创建了耕地，也给消费者相对便宜的房屋和家具，但它也造成了侵蚀，并很快砍伐了整个地区。”而且A中create和gave用and连接，gave应该改为give，前面did已经表过去。

这道题没有并列，这里强调是BUT转折，从句子的逻辑来看也是明显的转折，强调了砍伐有危害性。所以D比较合理。

无论如何A中gave的形式都是错的，是绝对性错误，GMAT不可能拿这样的选项做正确答案的。

意思上应该是转折更合理。
