B. the cheetah species is especially vulnerable to disease because of its homogeneity
C. the homogeneity of the cheetah species makes it especially vulnerable to disease
D. homogeneity makes members of the cheetah species especially vulnerable to disease
E. members of the cheetah species are especially vulnerable to disease because of their homogeneity

答案选E, 我认为B对。

看了讨论，没有令人信服的解释，但GWD答案上好像此题都欠奉争议, 让我很郁闷, 因为我先选E，后改为B, 当时沾沾自喜，以为自己看出了一个trick，结果竟然和答案不对。鉴于许多gwd答案已被prep推翻，我斗胆再提出疑问，希望高手解疑

E 的最大缺点就是指代，前面指代their肯定是clones，后面their肯定是members，那怎么解释的通？看了很多讨论，很多人指出了这一点，但没有人给出清晰解释

反对B的主要原因

1. clones 是复数，species 是单数，不对等－－此观点已被讨论否定，没有说两边一定都是复数的

example：Like other writers, Mr. White do...

2. clones是自己的复制，members才能与其对等之类的，不太令人信服，或者是我不太明白。。。

Anyway, 如果没有指代问题，我也就选E了。现在看B，是多么好的一个句子啊，前面是clones一个群体，在这个群体里面他们基因是similar的, 后面是 cheetah 这个 species (单复数一样), 也代表一个群体, 这个群体里面他们是homongenetic的(也有相同的基因); 前面是复数，后面是单数(但表达了一个group的概念), 避免了指代问题，还清晰的表达了比较含义...

So, 为什么不选B???

LZ,if you translate the whole sentence, you will find the meaning of E is more parallel than B. Only my own point of view.

翻译了以后E也不怎么样啊？再说，指代问题怎么讲？

真讲究 paralell 的话，应该 like members of clones, members of cheetah species...

怎么觉着自己掉到自己挖的坑里了。。。不谈翻译和理解，大家就讲讲这个指代怎么办吧

我的观点是其实这里的like 不是比较，而是比喻。因为clones不是一个具体的名词，理解为比较的话，就不知道
cheetah在与谁比较。in their similarity to one another 中的their指的是members of cheetah. 整个in短语是用于解释在哪方面like. 所以前半句可以理解为 members of the cheetah species are almost like clones in their similarity to one another.

n their similarity to one another 中的their指的是members of cheetah: I am not sure we can explain it in this way...

为什么不能理解成比较呢? 主要原因我看是在one another. 也不是要前后对等,一种东西是不可能相似的,要有两种东西"也就是正确答案中的一种品种内的两种"才能有相似性吧?

感觉这样才更对等些,句子意思更明确.
