我认为句子的结构应该是：

In no other historical sighting did Halley’s comet cause such a sensation as (Halley’s comet did) in its return of 1910-1911

its return 是一个historical sighting, 符合平行原则

A 明显错误，...as did its return 将“产生轰动”的主语变成 its return，而不是哈雷彗星了。

从1910-1911的使用也可以判断出正确答案，只有in是正确的，——》AE。而E需要补出did

我觉得这个句子本来应该是: Halley’s comet caused
                such
                a worldwide sensation
                as
                its return
                did
                in 1910-1911 in no other historical sighting ,但是in no other historical sighting 被提前之后全句倒装：

In no other historical sighting
                        did
                        Halley’s comet
                        cause
                        such a worldwide sensation
                            as
                        did its return  in 1910-1911

Ａ选项前后两个倒装句子平行，是正解

同意，its return不用严格地跟Halley's comet平行对等，因为主句和从句的两个主语不是严格的比较形式，不能用“比较对象要对等”去解这道题，as只是一个单纯的从句，表达的就是只有它的回归才能产生轰动效应，而不是它本身。

根据前文种no的位置，看出此句想对比的内容为时间,，只有C选项在比较时间点，其他四个选项都是在比return这件事。

（需注意A、D如果其中一个对，则另一个也是对的。如比较点正确，这两个选项的写法都是对的。）

这题答案是C。一开始对AD为啥错有疑问，自己想了想，贴下自己的理解：

正确答案调整语序和加了省略部分的内容后的句子：
Halley's Comet caused such a worldwide sensation in no other historical sighting as in its return of 1910-1911.

试比较
Halley's Comet didn't caused such a worldwide sensation in other historical sighting as its return in 1910-1911 caused.

结论就是：因为否定在介词短语，所以就比较介词短语；如果否定在谓语动词，就比较主谓。这是很细微的差别了，因为这三个选项语法上都没啥错误了，只能通过细微的语义差别来判断哪个更好。

至于有的地方说的比较对象不平行，这个我看不出来，所以就用的笨办法。

这题PREP选的是C啊，解释说的是比较的是in no other sighting这个短语啊，而且no other后面才是比较的内容吧，倒装强调了啊，我觉得就是选C啊。。

我终于搞明白的说~~~~分析：As前面是一个倒装结构，意思是哈雷彗星从未引起过和1910-1911回归这一时刻一样多的全球关注了。其他的historical sighting中哈雷彗星所引起关注的程度远不如1910-1911这段时间内多。那么as之前的句子是以哈雷彗星为主语的动宾结构，那么根据平行原则，as之后的句子也要是一个以哈雷彗星为主语的动宾结构。再考虑倒装，则最好的方法是as之后跟随in的介词短语结构。
A：in 1910-1911推后了，按道理应该使用正常语序。而did位于句前却是倒装的用法，句子结构混乱。并且主语是its return而不是哈雷彗星。
B：没有in的介词结构却使用倒装是语法错误。
C：正确，可以理解后面省略了did it cause a worldwide sensation。
D、E：主语是its return，错误。且D中使用正常语序，不如倒装好。
