I guess my only advice is that, if you go to a tier 2 law school, you should lower your career expectations. The firms everyone talks about are completely out of reach unless you finish in the top five to ten percent. The rest of you will have to take $10-$20/hour jobs, which will eventually turn into $55,000-$70,000 jobs. If you’re borrowing too much to live on that salary, then, well, you’re basically screwed.
The good news is that if you’re not shooting for top 5-10%, you don’t really need to worry about grades. I’m top 25% and I didn’t get a single advantage on the market. I got the same kind of job my bottom 10% friend got.
Finally, don’t take any shit from your professors. First of all, know that they’re ripping you off. Tier 2 professors make well into six figures by overcharging you for worthless degrees. It’s one thing if Arthur Miller wants to yell at you in class. The education he’s providing is about to Vault you into a $200,000/year job. But if Arthur Tier2 tries to pull that crap then just tell him that you paid your $40,000 tuition, and although you’ve accepted your low paying slave wage job fate, you’re not going to put up with their abuse.
All in all, if you’re going to a tier 2, you’ve made a terrible mistake. It will destroy your pocket book, but try not to let it destroy your hope for the future, or your belief in justice and fairness. Remember, tier2 schools may be evil, but the world is still decent.
