For many people, household labor remains demanding even if able to afford household appliances their grandparents would find a miracle.

(A) even if able to afford household appliances their grandparents would find a miracle

(B) despite being able to afford household appliances their grandparents would find a miracle

(D) although they could afford household appliances their grandparents would find miraculous（C）

(E) even if they are able to afford household appliances which would have been a miracle to their grandparents

ANS; C

哪位帮忙分析一下这个句子啊，谢谢

首先排除B,D,因为even if

再排除A,因为their grandparents 这个their指代不清,可以指代appliances,引起歧义

再排除E,which后面那摊东西太难看了,又是被动，显然不如C简洁

可是为什么要排除D呢，能否解释一下although 和 even if 的区别啊？

D的find时态不对，要改成完成时

因为afford和find这两个动作是有先后顺序的

they 和their grandparents 不是生活在同一时代的

D错在although与even if的区别

although 在前意思是“虽然”，在后意思是“但是”表转折

尽管, 虽然

Although my car is very old, it still runs very well. 我的汽车虽然很旧, 但仍然跑得很快。

但是, 然而

The high tax policy is certainly unpopular, although it's unlikely to meet the soaring armament expenditures. 高赋税政策肯定是不受欢迎的，但也未必能满足飞涨的军备开支。

如果本题中使用although，则要翻译成：家务事对于大多数人来说依旧比较费劲，但他们能买得起祖辈视为神奇的家用电器。

Even if 意思是“即使... 也…”表让步

即使, 纵然

I wouldn't lose courage even if I should fail ten times. 即使要失败十次, 我也绝不灰心。

这个题用even if更合理：即使他们能买得起祖辈视为神奇的家用电器，家务事对于大多数人来说依旧比较费劲。

没有规定说although放在后面就一定要翻译成“但是，虽然”吧。。Ｄ应该是错在时态上。people和their　grandparents不是生活在同一个时代的，Ｃ后面是对过去情况的虚拟。。
