(D) years, which is a result of removing

(E) years, which is a result of the removal of

I know the answer is (A) but the question uses "clearing" not "clearance". Should the question use "Clearance" to trigger people to use "removal"?

我觉得平行不是绝对意义上的。如果句子没有其他致命错误，完全平行当然最好，但如果句子有致命错误，就要排除，平行也没有意义了。

why don't the question use "clearance" but clearing? Is it also not deadly wrong?

removing and clearing are parellel.

removal and clearance are parellel.

removal and clearing are NOT parellel.

that's my point.

anyway, I got it.

"THE" clearing makes it a noun but removing has no "the" in the front and it can mean a gerund. Not parellel. Thanks.

借用老帖子问个新问题。

我也有楼主的这个问题，可是更想问的是，如果这么说A选项也不是很完美，为什么不用C呢，the removing of, 和后面的 the clearing of平行啊？resulting from...的用法有什么不对吗？

先說removal比removing好因為有名詞型態就不用Ving

問題是不平行? 那來看一下removing有沒有問題

The removal is one time thing 一直removing 確實有點怪

而一直clearing 若有錢有人去做沒人會反對吧?

再看as a result of vs. resulting from

X as a result of Y -> 語氣上強調 Y cause X, 句子重心為Y

X resulting from Y -> "resulting" is modifier, cause Y是用來輔助說明X, 句子的重心在X

(用法上 resulting from通常也緊接在X後面)

C的resulting from會貌似modify "years"

句意上從中文看都是一樣的但英文兩者會傳達出不同的語氣所以用原句比較不會distorting

8楼解释的很好，我补一句。, resulting from是可以的，作伴随状语表结果，修饰前面整句句子。但是，这样就和原句的意思有略微的差别了。

这题我只能从the removal of比the removing of要好来入手。因为这里是the + n.的结构，所以有名词的还是用名词比用动名词要好。
