28. The mistakes children make in learning to speak tell linguists more about how they learn language than the correct forms they use.

(A) how they learn language than

(B) how one learns language than

(D) learning language than（C）

(E) their language learning than do

In choice A, the pronoun reference is awkward and potentially ambiguous because a plural noun, linguists, comes between they and its noun referent, children.

对答案没有疑问，但

我的问题是未划线部分的they是否有指代嫌疑呢？这个they应该指代children吧? 还是因为正确答案C中补出了children所以指代就正确了？但C中补出的children实际上是在名词性从句中,感觉这个they不也有解释中的ambiguous的问题吗？

这道题目咋一看还真不知道如何下手,查了下LZM,题号9-1, 主要要从意思下手:

这里是两个对象比较: mistakes 和the correct forms ,谓语是tell , 中文意思即"孩子所犯的错误比他们用的正确方式更能告诉语言学家他们是如何学习语言的",

比较对象清楚后,就只要用"助动词尽量补出原则" 解题即可, 助动词即do, 所以 than 后面要有do, 而且这里do 不能省略,如果不补, 则变成how they learn language than 和the correct forms they use 两个名词的比较,显然补符合逻辑, 这样 A B D 都可以排除了, 而E根据意思也可以排除. 故此题答案是C;

如lz所说确实they 有指代嫌疑, 但我个人觉得如果通过了解题目逻辑意思,再加上"助动词尽量补出原则" ,完全可以作出答案, 所以不要过于追究代词指代. (可以看看NN的牛贴,会发现ETS对于代词指代,其实也是含糊不清,没有定论的)
