should be less than 1000 words. or one page length. It depends on different schools, so you should make 2 or 3 versions of PS with different length.

In general,yes! But each school might have different requirements! For example, last year, Harvard Business School requires double space and Duke(or NYU?) requires a 1 page PS. So it depends on the school.What I did was making a two-page PS first and cut the length to fit each school's requirement if necessary. In most cases, the original version satisfy most schools I applied.
