答案E

但是E中的THEY 可以指代ANIMALS和PATTERNS 指代不清为什么选呢

E比D强在哪里？？？？

因为其他选项的搭配都不对称,因此比指代不清这条罪名要来得严重~

if不是which表修饰，应该并非要就近吧，而是条件状语之类的，指代whether这话中的逻辑主语即可

d，换掉if，改变了愿意的条件状语的含义，原文是说如果这些animal被研究的话，会怎样怎样，而不是说已经研究了；再一个就是被动了，不简洁
