164.Because natural gas is composed mostly of methane, a simple hydrocarbon, vehicles powered by natural gas emit less of certain pollutants than the burning of gasoline or diesel fuel.

Key: E

pollutants在这里加了s，是可数名词，为什么用less去形容呢？

这个结构中more of/less of 修饰前面的动词而非后面的名词

那more of/less of在这种情况下是副词？

我知道用less of,不明白Ｅ答案 less of certain pollutants than those burning gasoline or diesel fuel，than 后面为什么不是by而是those？一般说来，比较结构的第二个ＢＹ　是不省略的呀？

这里those指代vehicles，G里面除了修饰人用fewer,修饰物都用less
