请问为什么后半段用复数形式there were,如果用there was对不对呢?
E是不是比倒了啊?

我也不知道为什么不用there was
E,(1)我觉得错在has, 原句表达一种存在而不是主动拥有,
(2)而且E中four times as many as 补充说明什么呢??是every thirty-two pupils还是one microcomputer??似乎不如one microcomputer for every thirty-two pupils,(一个比例)是four times as many as there were(另一个比例)表达清楚
一家之言,不知道对不对,请牛人来指点吧

对哦,为什么用were不用was, 我没想过这问题,有人解释一下吗>
e有比倒之嫌,但后面是跟four years ago比,错,呵呵.

我觉得C中应该用there were, 因为前面说得是每....人有一台电脑,虽然是表达为there is one....,但其隐含的意思是有很多台电脑,而不是只有一台,而且,as...as 后面比较的也是整体情况,如果要用there was, 后面就应该将one for every... 补充完整,否则只能用there were.
对于E,我同意dreadpower的观点, 不过,补充一点: ETS在考察as...as 比较的时候,若比较的分别是现在情况和过去的,则as...as前面用现在一般时,as...as 后面一定要用过去一般时简略重述一下,否则不可取.

我个人觉得可以象如下这样理解,不过我不保证正确啊。
1、先举一个简单点的例子
There are 8 computers in this classroom, 4 times as many as there ( ) in that classroom.
上面这个例子要表达的这个教室有8台电脑,是那个教室里的四倍。谁都知道括号里应该填写的是are,而不是is。
2、变换一下
There are 8 students in this class room.
There is one computer for every student, four times as many as there ( ) in that classroom.
这个句子比上面那个句子加了一个前提,就是教师里有8个学生。每个学生有一台。描述的是同样一个道理,你觉得括号里应该是填are还是is呢?
3、如何解释这个题目
前半句there is now one microcomputer for every thirty-two pupils和后半句there were four years ago,它们两句话所表达的倍数关系是什么物质的倍数关系呢?肯定是电脑台数的倍数关系,并不是平均每台电脑的使用频率上的倍数关系。既然是电脑台数的倍数关系,那么我们可以肯定,四年前肯定不是只有一台电脑吧。那么肯定要用were。前半句是用一台电脑的使用人数来表达电脑的台数,后半句直接使用数字个数来表达电脑的台数,所以要用复数。
4、大家再看一个句子
There is one computer for every 4 student in this classroom, four times as frequently used as there () in that classroom.
大家想想看,这个题目要用are还是is。
不知道讲清楚了没有,如果没有可以再问。

有这样的一种说法:老外数学不好,又懒得算,于是订下了一条规矩,如果不用计算,单复数一致,such as, there is one computer for, or there are two computers for;如果需要计算不论简单复杂,不管3721一律用复数,such as, four times as many as there were two years ago. Or there are now two computers for each group, two times as many as there are two years ago. 他们到是简单了可难坏数学好的XDJM了。

前面NN们的说法好象在语法理论上是站不住脚的啊。我也想不出有什么很正当的语法依据来justify were的用法。我在做这题上时是靠排除法选了C。
时隔这么久,有没有NN后来又有新的心得可以分享给大家呢?

为什么是电脑台数的倍数关系呢?问题研究的学生使用电脑的情况有没有改善,我觉得应该研究频率才有意义,所以比得也应该是比例,而不是总台数(因为一个学校的学生数目会有变化)
