标题: 加州大学隐藏的偏好

在填写UCLA-PHD Catalog & Application Request For Fall 2008的时候发现一个细节问题：

一般美国学校问到申请者的Ethnicity的时候会把Asian 和 Pacific Islander归为一类，但是UCLA却将之更细分为
Ethnicity: Chinese/ Chinese American 和 Pacific Islander

是否说明该校对中国学生特殊对待？比如每年招生比例中要求至少有或者偏好有一定的中国学生？或是不能超过多少比例的中国学生？

大家有什么看法呢？

It is very normal,if you visit more university websites.

Yes, it's nornal for most universities to have such kinda selection, but so detailed distinguish of Chinese is rare. To my opinion, UCLA makes such selection because it has too many Chinese applicant and the Chinese in Califonia are too many.
I hope that UCLA doesn't have such kinda preference. Good luck to all who apply for PHD program!
