这题我开始也选了C

as a result of 和result from均表示原因，前者是原因状语的引导词，后者是动词。

在本题中，result from用了-ing形式表伴随原因

根据BY语法，-ing在句尾，表伴随结果时无逻辑主语，但表伴随状态、动作或功能时逻辑主语为句子主语。

本句逻辑主语应是increase，但句子主语是population，逻辑主语与句子主语不一致，因此不能选C

可是为什么不能选B呢？用remove是动词形式，不是比removal更好吗？

the clearing 有名词意味因为本身没有名词才用了ing

要平行也要有名词意味的词 luckily removal是名词所以就选了

意义和功能上的平行要大于形式上的平行
