when necessary的说法
但是有while + adj.的说法么？
哪位NN有关于while的总结啊？
from my old notes:
While:
1. during the time that something is happening
They arrived while we were having dinner.
While she was asleep, thieves broke in and stole her handbag.
She met Andy while working on a production of Carmen.
2. all the time that something is happening
Would you look after the children while I do the shopping?
3. used to emphasize the difference = although(OG11th-52)对比/转折between two situations, activities etc
Schools in the north tend to be better equipped, while those in the south are relatively poor.
OG37, OG159, OG233: 用and have raised或是raised就不能表达while raising的对比的意思了
4 in spite of the fact that
While never a big eater, he did snack a lot. While there was no conclusive evidence, most people thought he was guilty.
also: while/when +分词结构在句首可修饰主语，在句中或句尾作状语. So if you count 分词 as adj., then my answer is yes.

我见过while + gerund 的，但是有的语法书把gerund归结为 infinite clause，作用和动词一样，但是不能独立成句。看来while+ doing （gerund）是对的。但是我想确认一下while+ 纯的adj. 比如有 while necessary 这种说法么~

ps:你都怎么做语法notes的？ 我就是把错题copy 在word文档中，写明每个选项错误的原因。但是我想横向总结一下，但是不知道怎么下手。
我是找份前人NN的notes, 因为基本的语法catagory都有了, 然后自己做OG的时候把例句加入. 多搜集点例句, 放在一起, 很容易就看出pattern.
还有建议你打开pdf版的OG(包括SC, RC, CR), 然后search "while", 看看有没有while + adj.的用法. 在没有的话可以参考别的语法书. 但是要还是以OG为主.
