问了一个老外，他对GMAT没什么了解，仅仅从语感和考题的目的出发。他选择了A.原因如下：
1、A是更加common的回答,while C是一个更formal的回答
2、A是北美英语更加倾向的回答，主动，有力而且直接，而C是一个有些太正式而显得wordy的回答，比较British英语化

A的弱点是instead of，他说老美确实不喜欢instead of，更宁愿用rather than，因为前者有点太随便。这里it就是要省略，念起来顺；C的弱点除了by
which（下面讲)，还有就是not...but结构，这个结构给他的感觉好像上来是reveal的是自己不要的然后才是要的，感觉很差，就这点，配合
it is produced and understood，给他的感觉很weak。看来ETS所说的主动优先有道理，比较美国化
4、by which和that。他说美国人更喜欢that，因为更直接更有力：that produce and make it understandable用that一个词替换了by which it is四个词，效率高，而且念起来更加顺口。

C和A各有微小差异。A只有一个弱点即instead
of，而C的弱点更明显，但更清晰（就像中文说：我吃的比你多，和“我吃的饭比你吃的饭多”）。就看谁是受众，如果是英国人，是对一个律师文件，C好点，但
如果是面向北美人，用于商业文件，建议A就可，足够清楚但又不会像C那样清晰的过份.

答复：他明确地说，produce的宾语就是it, 即language，produce it and make it understandable可以并列，但并列时前面的it必须省略否则wordy, awkward （这是他的原话，并说类似的题在他们上大学英文写作时专门有讲过，对什么情况下表达是wordy和awkard有专门表述）。他同时也说C没有错，但绝对不是best，也没有什么fatal problem，但以英语为母语的人无论谁写作都不会采用这种写法（他说得比较绝对。我感觉就像我们教老外写中文时他们较真的样子，哈哈）

答复：他只说instead of不是最喜欢的表达方式，往往产生歧义，甚至在这题里有和instead of前面所有要所有表达的东西并列的感觉（这是他自己感觉了），并说在写作时很多时候都避免有这种表达，而用rather than。虽然把“而不是xxx”放到后面表达，但rather than有强烈的对比意向，使比较的两者之间具有共同的重量，符合要对比表达的目的；而instead of意思弱化，有些前重后轻，如果在比较时似乎并不是很有力。
