英国的LANCASTER的商学院如何，他的商科单科排名好像还可以。有没有人来指点一二。

是吗。个人认为不要GMAT 就可以的，难免不能保证生源质量，（当然GMAT也不是一切）。

The management school in Lancaster is, of course, very good!!
The master's entry requires GMAT, unless you are from a UK university. If you don't hold GMAT, but get involved, I am sure you will have an extremely tough year, as the work here is very heavy!!
This university is particularly good in Finance and Accounting.

5 star B-school in UK.
Attach most importance on Accounting and Finance, have an independent department for such subjects. Option pricing could be the strong point of Lancaster!
Oviously, very good.
According the ranking of the last five years, only three shool received most 5 star ranking and Lanca is one of them(the other two are Warwick and LSE).
Unfortunately, the city is very, very boring!
GMAT should be the entry requirement but not always.

Very good, at least top 5 in UK, need GMAT, should be 600, can not remember.

I don't like Cardiff, sorry! Not only because it is in Wales but also because it is easy to get the offer.

Sheffield is a good university and is very young, but the ranking of Economics is so poor! The strengh of the school is engineering.

Anyway, I will choose Sheffield!

Cardiff is good at research, the taught courses are so so. If u just want to get a msc, Sheffield is better.

I donot think Sheffield, Cardiff is as good as lancaster,especially in business.But it is easy to appliy for these two schools.Sheffield is a good university but not very strong in economic.I donot like cardiff because it is easy to get an offer.

Master in Finance in Lancaster is comparatively stronger than any other propgrammes in the school. Yes, it has the top ranking in the accounting and finance as well as 2 "niu" professors. But actually option pricing is not its strength. (I am the current finance student and potentially will pursue research in extoic option pricing afterwards). Any specific question, just raise it. Good luck.

The admission policy will definitely change this year. The Accounting and Finance department is aggressively developing its international reputation and teaching and researching quality. Frankly speaking, Lancaster could be a choice if you wanna to continue your academic career while the drawback is its unfavourable location and weak networking with top tier ibanking firms.

yes, it is almost impossible mission to land a decent job in ibanking industry in the City. i tried all big names last year but no positive results. on the other hand, i am admitted by the warwick doctoral programme (math finance) and lancaster doctroal programme as well. as i said on 8th March, lancaster is good for research and academic activity while it can not give you a promising finance job in most of cases.

It seems too hard to stay still in UK after graduation, even for graduates of such a wonderful university!

I wonder if things can be better for universitys located near London?

I do not think the location of university is that important.

The important thing is what is the strength of the university

Lancaster University is very strong in the accounting and finance without doubt and is one of the only two 6-star business schools (Lancaster Uni and LBS ) in UK.

So Lancaster Uinversity is a very good choice!

lancaster is a good place to study, i still remember the good old days,
reading books in the library (not very often though).  social life
on campus wasn't boring at all, there are about 9 pubs on campus,
plenty parties to attend if you feel like drinking.  weather wise,
comparing to the minus 30 degree that toronto has to offer, i really
can't complain about the british weather.  the management school
is good, according to the school website, the mba program has been
ranked the 3rd in uk by financial times, only after lbs and said.
however finding a job after graduate might be a challenge for chinese
students, most people i know went back to china, one major reason why i
left lancaster for toronto.
