24.

OG答案为B. ???

Tiger beetles are such fast runners that they can capture virtually any nonflying insect.  However, when running toward an insect, the beetles intermittently stop, and then, a moment later, resume their attack.  Perhaps they cannot maintain their pace and must pause for a moment's rest; but an alternative hypothesis is that while running tiger beetles are unable to process the resulting rapidly changing visual information, and so quickly go blind and stop.

Which of the following, if discovered in experiments using artificially moved prey insects, would support one of the two hypotheses and undermine the other?

(A) When a prey insect is moved directly toward a beetle that has been chasing it, the beetle immediately turns and runs away without its usual intermittent stopping.

(B) In pursuing a moving insect, the beetles usually respond immediately to changes in the insect's direction, and pause equally frequently whether the chase is up or down an incline.

(C) The beetles maintain a fixed time interval between pauses, although when an insect that had been stationary begins to flee, the beetle increases its speed after its next pause.

(D) If, when a beetle pauses, it has not gained on the insect it is pursuing, the beetle generally ends its pursuit.

(E) When an obstacle is suddenly introduced just in front of running beetles, the beetles sometimes stop immediately, but they never respond by running around the barrier. obstacle

In pursuing a swerving insect...

increases its speed 消耗了更多的体力 ,但是fixed time interval between pauses

OG11th diagnostic test 25

Perhaps they cannot maintain their pace and must pause for a moment's rest

An alternative hypothesis is that while running tiger beetles are unable to process the resulting rapidly changing visual information, and so quickly go blind and stop.

(B)In pursuing a moving insect, the beetles usually respond immediately to changes in the insect's direction (可以weaken假设二à因为没有瞎所以可以立刻会应昆虫方向的改变), and pause equally frequently whether the chase is up or down an incline (但是无法support假设一

(C) The beetles maintain a fixed time interval between pauses, although when an insect that had been stationary begins to flee (即使静止不动的昆虫要开始飞,TB仍维持固定的pauseàweaken假说二: 代表即使视觉在非移动的状态下,看得到,TB仍会pause,所以pause跟视觉无关, the beetle increases its speed after its next pause (support假说一: 在休息之后增加速度,可见得是因为无法维持pace所以需要休息).

(B) In pursuing a moving insect, the beetles usually respond immediately to changes in the insect's direction(反對假設2), and pause equally frequently whether the chase is up or down an incline(並未支持假設1:因為假設1cannot maintain pace->pause;但此處pausepace無關).

(C) The beetles maintain a fixed time interval between pauses(並未支持假設1:理由同上), although when an insect that had been stationary begins to flee, the beetle increases its speed after its next pause(支持假設2:因為the beetle會執行chase的動作是因為他認定insect仍位於該處,因為無法及時更新visual in formation所以不知道insect begins to fly).

In pursuing a swerving insect, a beetle alters its course while running and its pauses become more frequent as the chase progresses.

(B)In pursuing a moving insect, the beetles usually respond immediately to changes in the insect's direction (weaken假设二à没有瞎,因为可以立刻会应昆虫方向的改变), and pause equally frequently whether the chase is up or down an incline (无法support假设一

cute beetles!.

(B) In pursuing a moving insect, the beetles usually respond immediately to changes in the insect's direction, and pause equally frequently whether the chase is up or down an incline.(如果他是停下休息,up/down incline应该停下的次数不同,因为上坡累下坡容易)所以他不是停下休息,所以rule out了假设1啊。
