Topic: In some countries, people are no longer allowed to smoke in many public places and office buildings. Do you think this is a good rule or a bad rule? Use specific reasons and details to support your position.

Just yesterday, I read an investigation in newspaper, which demonstrated that the number of smokers in

China

has been up to one billion since 2006. So astonishing is the huge amount. Yet there is another data that shows us those who undergo second-hand smoking in public places may be four time the former number. As the demands for banning smoking in public situation rising up, however, some opponents emerge with voice of disagreement, and in current, this problem is becoming a hot-button debate day in and day out gradually. From my perspective, considering couple of primary harms of smoking, I believe firmly that making regularity for banning smoking in public places is a must-do task.

Physically, people, at present, tend to be more vulnerable to some fatal disease. To seek for the reasons, scientists have done massive work and multitudes of studies have illustrated that the toxic substances from cigarettes are one of principal causes for people’s healthy problems. As a matter of fact, most of the patients suffering from lung cancer are not smokers, but they play passive roles to be forced to accept the negative impact from smokers, as victims. Invariably, it is not rare to find out the addicts of smoking in public places, such as parks, shopping malls and offices, who swallow the smoke and than release it out again. Although the enjoyment of cigarettes brings smokers with plenty of joy, the existence of some other poor non-smokers around of them cannot be ignored. To protect the benefits of those who don’t rely on smoking but undergo the harm of it, obviously, to ban the smoking in public is the optimal one.

Health of multitudes is only part of picture; also, public security seems to be another significant reason. Fire, a necessity to smokers, hides too many hazards. It is not difficult for us to imagine a circumstance that all the buildings and the voice for help are sinking into the ocean of flames, nonetheless, the original of this frightful accident is just an extremely short remain of a cigarette. Facing the security of the whole people, none has the authority to be so selfish that other’s happiness and even life are appearing to be located upon a landmine which may explode unpredictably. Smoking forbidden in public situation is called for by multitudes and government in this case.

Admittedly, the effects the ban against public smoking is not positive all the time. For instance, those who rely on smoking for a long time will face a challenge to get rid of it, bankruptcy of Cigarettes Corporation tends to be more possible and there is a risk of governmental financial reduction results from the taxation loss of cigarettes. However, despite of above negative impacts, none can be compared with the public health and security. In a word, I support to make a rule to end the smoking in public places.
