题目中的dating back，为什么是dating现代分词哪而不是dated back？是因为date表示不及物动词的意思？

because it is that Native American burial sites date back.....not they are dated back.....

eg.......has found evidence of forest fires dating back thousands of years

看了好多句型，date back作为追溯年代就是不及物动词，所以是dating back。
