96题：我支持LZ的看法，我觉得it指代the number，显然逻辑不通，E比较好
97题：我认为A的错误在于一句话中两个they指代了不同的内容，这样造成了指代歧义。（前面的they指methods；后面的they指pollutants）；而B就避免了这个问题。
