标题: Should I take this offer?
Hi,
If you guys can give me any suggestions, I will appreciate that.
I will apply for PhD in Finance in 2008. Right now, I got an offer from BC MSF with scholarship $20,000. Is the MSF program helpful for my future application? Should I accept this offer? Any suggestion is appreciated.
My background: Undergraudate major: Economics (Taiwan), graduate major: Accounting (UT-Austin). Right now, I am doing hedge fund services in NY
Thanks you guys

If your academic records are strong enough, you might target at top 20 programs.

I think the MSF will build a good foundation for you. Plus, you will get some recommendation letters from finance professors plus the accounting professors at UT-Austin.

How long is it? When can you apply for PhD?
If it takes 2 years or more, forget it
If it takes less than 2 years, you can take it, and it does help

The MSF program will take 1 year for full-time studend and 1.5-2 years for part-time student. If I accept this offer, I probably will apply for PhD in 2008.
Thanks for you guys giving me these suggestions. Other suggestions are all welcome.

the MSF in BC itself won't help much with application to top schools since it's a professional degree. it's training for CFA and th elike. the bright side of it is that you may be able to obtain recommendation from some well-known finance professors there.
