(B) inventing anesthesia was as essential for the development of surgery as the invention of the propeller was for powered flight

(C) the invention of anesthesia was as essential in the development of surgery much as the invention of the propeller had been for powered flight

(D) the invention of anesthesia was as essential to the development of surgery as the invention of the propeller was to powered flight（D）

为什么A不对呢？

那如果我把它理解成AS的比较句呢？像like跟as那种 LIKE+N AS+句子，不行么？~

as是作为连词出现的既然是连词就只能带一个句子。但是由于as所带的句子与主句有很多相同的地方，所以可以使用加助动词省略的形式成为正确答案。比如：

A do ***, as B do

A can *** as B can

A is *** as B and C are

补出助动词的原则是必须和主句的类型一致，而且要时态一致。

但是如果某个as结构自己就带了时间状语，那么该as结构的时态和自己带的状语保持一致，而类型和主句保持一致。

难道是因为这样，as前面一定要加“，”才正确？~

as +句子强调动作

as ..as 强调中间那堆东西

且A 与D 相比 D 更加符合ets 平衡规则所以选D咯

当as 作为连词的时候，比较的对象是一个句中的某一个成分．　并且不会产生歧义．　在这道题中，　比较的对象不是句子中的一个成分，　既不是比较主语，　也不是比较宾语，　而是类比整个句子的逻辑关系．　

所以如果要比较，　就必须用从句的结构，　那么正确的Ａ的表达应该是，the invention of anesthesia was essential to the development of surgery, just as the invention of the propeller was essential to powered flight. 其中essntial是不可以省略的．　just as和as 也是不能互换的．

· A is the same as B

· A is as adj. as B

以上两种表达, 都是比较A,B, 并且A,B都是名词.

· A do..., just as B do

当比较某种逻辑关系的时候, 应该用just as引导的从句. 而这个时候, 应该有逗号连接两个从句. just as 是不可以用as替换的.

所以A是错的, 因为A中混淆了as和just as在比较中的用法了. 要正确的表达A, 应该变成 : the invention of anesthesia was essential to the development of surgery, just as the invention of the propeller was essential to powered flight. 其中essntial是不可以省略的.

B, C, sth. is essential to sth. 是固定搭配, 不能用sth. is essential for sth. 或者sth. is essential in sth.

E, 如果用so的倒置结构, 那后面的essential就应该省略掉. 而比较E的表达和D的表达, 明显感觉D的表达更加简洁有效.
