我觉得C的could已经改变了原句的语气了，变得更加不肯定；再一个as a tool 和has become a tool不平行；

我选E，两个a tool都是同位语，结构很工整。也忠实反映了原句的内容。

C和D是conceive of the radio to be/as a tool，违反了原句所强调的初衷：coneived of ...as a subtitute.

B 的which指代歧义，which 指代a tool，a tool就近是telephone的同位语,含义就成了telephone is

a tool for communicating with a large...

我觉得首先要忠实原文，没必要的时候不能随便改变时态语态，也要对顺序的调整很敏感，因为顺序调整了可能强调的重心就变了。

我倒是觉得C的substitute用动词更好些,E

同位语与宾语弄成一样的结构始终觉得有点别扭~~~

而且E的what it is也不顺眼

我不知道为什么选答案要忠实原文，GMAT语法八大规则里面，哪里有说到做题先要忠实原文，og两百多道题目的分析里面哪一题选答案的依据是忠实原文?你说的这些都是新东方总结的一些规律罢了。很多大牛都不认同新东方的这套总结。事实上题目做得越多，就会发现这些总结的“例外”越多。

我认为选答案应该先要符合逻辑的表达意思而不是忠实原文。

C的大体意思是：在M的概念中radio是私人的交流工具，而恰恰相反，radio是成为了大众的交流工具。

这个句子表达非常清晰明了，转折前后非常对称，符合我们正常表达的思维方式。

而E conceived to be和what it is 不敢说错，但都不好

og里把某某当作某某一直都延用as

what it is不知道在这里有什么作用，完全可以乎略掉。

还有E的表达意思也有问题：M认为radio能代替电话，然后又说电话是私人交流工具，而不是大众交流工具。

我觉的这样的表达完全没有C好，这个表述概念很混乱，不知道作者究竟要说radio呢，还是说telephone,前面说了两者的关系，后面一大段同位语又描述电话如何如何。

如果我是作者，要用语言表达对radio的概念也会倾向于C的表达方式。

承认啊，that修饰radio逻辑意思上更合理一些，而且C的时态不知是否有问题。

这道题觉的语法上各个选项多少都有问题，比较难抉择,否则也不会争议这么久。我选C也是综合考虑而，觉的就整个句子而言C的表达更合理些。实在是郁闷的一道题！

同意选C，
1.conceived of ...as的习惯用法（搜索的句子：（1）Marconi conceived of radio as a point-to-point communications technology rather than broadcast (one to many) technology. （2）Marconi
conceived of the radio as a two-way, interactive device.)
2.that是可以跳跃修饰tool的，在OG上有类似用法。
3.完成时态很正确。

LS说得对,that可以修饰紧接的那个名词,不过如果是介词结构也可以修饰中心词

很同意就醉一生的观点

向来把改变原句意思这个所谓的规则最后考虑,也就是实在排除不了的时候才用
