（1） GWD-1-Q8:

grow as big as 30 feet long不合逻辑而且罗嗦．Ａ更简洁．grow to be 和grow to 都对．

A is the best, grow to be 30 feet long

B、C，growing修饰对象与主语不一致

D，grow as big as 30 feet long不合用法（？）

一是及物动词：主要含义是：使生长；培养；使（东西）依自然进程而发展或增加：
二是不及物动词：生长，成长：自然进程中体积的增加
由此可见，作及物动词主要是指“培养”，而不及物动词主要指“生长”。所以，在本句中，明显是不及物动词“生长”。由此排除grow是系动词的可能性。因此，grow as big as..中，不能用big这个形容词来修饰grow，所以D错.

作者在上面提到的grow as big as 30 feet long不合用法的原因，本小菜鸟表示质疑，下面给出理由，请大家扔砖：

的用法
▶IMPROVE◀

[intransitive] to gradually become better, bigger etc

She's grown tremendously as a musician.

关于grow to的用法
▶INCREASE◀

[intransitive]to increase in amount, size, number, or strength

所以本人解题思路为：

grow的用法：根据逻辑的表示，此题应该是说体积上的增长，应该是增长，而不是改进的概念，所以用grow as是错误的，排除B,D

B,C中growing修饰的对象与主语不一致，排除B,C

E中，省略it

为什么都注意grow as big as中的as 呢？显然，应该注意big是否可以修饰grow啊？

个人觉得这里的划分不是grow as，而是as big as这个词组，as big as 30 feet long是不简洁的表达方式，“像30英尺长一样大”不如“30英尺长”简洁。记得有位前辈说过：as +adj+as+数量+n是不简洁的表达方式，不知道是不是万用规律。

LZ把原题搞错了吧，DE都是includes，考点是主谓一致，不应该是grow这里吧

同意~记得有老师讲过 doing形式在句末做状语修饰的对象要么就是主句的主语，要么就是整个主句了
排除B、C的理由除了doing这个知识点还有：
B的as big as 和30 feet long明显是不搭配的，
而C中up to 姑且不论，being在这里多余了，所以都排除掉~

另外，丽丽讲过情态动词最大，就是说A项中有CAN，正确答案中最好也能保留CAN情态动词，且growing存在修饰歧义，不能确定它到底是修饰whale还是species，哈哈，说得不好，见笑了~
