标题: 学校通知现在无法面试了,无比担心
等了2-3周,等到这封信:
Due to the large number of people who requested
alumni interviews and a shortage of available alumni
interviewers, we are unable to offer you an alumni interview.

The interview is not required for admission. If there is anything you
would have communicated to the Admissions Committee in an interview that
you were not able to include in your application, you may submit an
additional essay (no more than 3 pages) to me, and I will place it in
your application file.

看过这后无比担心: although the interview is not required, normally no interview=no offer...
而且有些气愤：上周还说会安排面试，这周就说人太多了，早干什么去了？几周前就要求面试了，也得有个先来后到呀，不知这些有限的名额都给谁了？
Does anyone else have the same experience?
What can I do? Keep on asking for a telephone interview?
Or submit an additional essay? but what shall I write in this additional essay?

I think you should try both of them, pushing for an phone interview, while writing an extra essay to present your enthusiasm.

yeah, chipmuk, I agree with you. However, I doubt it is a good sign or a bad one since they didn't tell me how they choose the applicants who can get interviews.

baobaobear, don't think too much. No matter what, you just try pushing them a little bit, but sincerely.

Yeah, it might be a bad sign. It reminds me last year NYU did the same thing. Some schools just can't wait to show their disrespect to our Chinese.

Does this mean they didn't begin to read your application yet? Otherwise, to place it in your application file is just nonsense. If so, it seems not too bad, anyway.

Siebel, you are right! The interview is not by invitation but by request.
SmileFM, could you tell me more details. "去年我认识一个，自己联系到一个校友，最后也做掉了" did she or he get the approval from Admission Committee before conduct such alumni interview? did she or he get in?
BTW, i know Duke offered alumni interview in BJ and SH last year!
