A: their has no clear reference;

B: the best.at the same rate is the correct idiom.

C: at a comparable rate to the US's is awkward and wordy. thier has no clear reference;passive voice is weak.

D: the inverted word order only contributes to the incoherence of the phrases; wordy and redundant.

E: wordy and redundant. people consuming fatty foods can not modify rate.

选项D只是说明了fatty food在法国和美国消费,缺少一个people,所以不知道是人消费掉还是其他什么消费掉了,选项B意思更清晰

同问~我选的是d, 另一个原因是和后面的主句结构也保持了一致。

d是错误的理由是不是因为d没有了people会使原文的意思发生改变？

E中的the rate of people consuming其中consuming是修饰people,而people是the rate of 后面的内容，看起来是没有问题的，前面讨论了一个比例，后面讨论了比例，前后使用让步句型讨论两个比例之间的反差。E看上去很正确呀

同意楼上，D,E是同一个错误
the rate of fatty foods与the rate of people，变成了食物的比率和人的比率
而题目需要的是the rate of food consumption..

E里面的问题：

1，B里面at about the same rate修饰consume，而在E里面the rate of people comsuming，又修饰消耗脂肪食物的人，但是意思上差别不大。所以我觉得关键E错在：

2，比较对象不对等。如果改为：the rate of people consuming fatty foods is about the same in France as in the United States, the就对了。

所以E的错误可能在这2个，都是吧
