A、B，are与rate主谓不一致（？）

B、D，tree与后面their trunks不一致

C is the best

E，有人同意E，认为倒装

本题一定要注意到未画线部分的their

C错在修饰对象错误。

the rings visible in the cross sections of their trunks，树的年轮应该修饰树而不是修饰sunspot cycles
