A有两个错误：

1：in an attempt at developing 不对，应该是 in an attempt to develop

2：crossing gypsy moths with adult silkworms应该修饰French scientist ，但这里指代就不清楚了，我觉得更像是在指代the gypsy moth

选A in an attempt to 是试图做某事，尝试做某事 D中 in an attempt at developing错误搭配。顶2楼但是第2点，应该不是修饰而是用by表示某种方式，通过杂交by crossing gypsy moths with adult silkworms而获得这个品种的a strong strain of silk-producing insects

唉，我也选了A，尽管A的attempt的用法让人很不爽。

做题时没有选D，是考虑到D把原句的重心都给改了，变成强调import去了，这违背了改错题的原则了吧？

Anyway，只是说出来发泄一下，呵呵。单从纯语法角度讲，D没有问题。
