Both schools are good at Finance, if this is what you are looking at.

MBS was the peer school of LBS, and still one of the top B-Schools in UK, which means you'll get the working visa (HSMP) automaticly right after graduation.

Don't know much about Cass. as you know, the location is a huge advantange.

Your decision should depend on  your career objectives. I've got offer from both of the schools too. and I've been to cass to receive interview. I feel Cass is financial focused and has a very good reputation in london financial circle. To the cutting edge of MSB, it's practical focused and very helpful for your further career in UK or some other places in EU,caz you can get intern opportunity during the summer.

If you are determined to be a career-changer, I think MBS, which provides 18-month-programme, is more useful to you.

Thanks NNM, strong reputations in finance IS what I am looking for.

but what do you mean of " MBS is the peer of LBS" ?    Do they exchange students?  Would you give me more details?

hi Dianap, which school do you choose eventually?

Talking about my career , I do want an IB job after MBA.

No offense to MBS, I have seen too many Chinese graduated there and come back to China, some of them even be my co-workers or staff.... if they can intern opportunities at first place, why would they bother back and work on the much lower-paid jobs, which i donn't understand very much.....

for me right now, I began prefer City more than MBS

if you have your decision, please let me know, thanks

MBS and LBS were set up at the same time by the government and they used to compete for the NO.1 in UK.

But that was decades ago

So i'm not saying I vote for MBS , but giving you some info only.

That said, MBS is indeed a good b-school with good reputation in finance. Are the colleagues you mentioned specificly titled with "MBA"? or some other master degrees?

Other than that, why didn't try oxbridge? Offered by MBS/Cass, you have high chance of getting in these two as well.

frankly, I applied LBS / Cass/ MBS,  latter two as back up. but I was rejected by LBS...........

for the concern of oxbridge. I feel I really should have applied both.... but right now, maybe too late. I am panic.

I think Cass graduate is qualified for HSMP too. But you might need to check with the admission officers. Personally, I'd recommend you to go for Cass. At least, it's much easier for you to network here in London.

I know a lot of Chinese here in London who graduated from Cass. But they graduated a  long long time ago when there weren't that many Chinese students around. Not too sure about the situation now.

Last year, I got their offer too and asked them to send me the employment report. The % of students who got jobs 6 months after graduation was sth. like 60%-70%, and starting salary was around GBP 27K. I am not 100% about the exact number, but it's not particularly impressive.

I suggest you ask the admission officers from both schools to send you last year's employment report.

hi 站在水的中央

thansk for the info, i will send the mail to enquiry.

For the starting slary of 27K or 30k, would you please tell me more about what is average slary in london finance areas now? I donn't know too much about london. as far as i conern, 30K Pounds is about 450RMB, which is not bad in China., however i guess the living expense is also high, right ?

HI Tony

By far, I prefer Oxford more.

last year there's no Chinese MBA in Cass, and this year(2006-2007) there're two. I'm not quite familiar with Cass placement report, but it's just a reference like any other placement report. the most important factor to get a satisfing job is the candidate him or herself. So if you think you're good enough and have strong relevant bg, just do it. And at the same time, bare in mind that it's one-year program which means it's not easy to make a big transfer to a career needs a lot of practical skills.

I've sent you my msn, just add me on you list.

作者: TonyNie    时间: 2007-4-4 02:38

hi diana, my msn: niehongyu(A) hotmail.com , I havn't receive your message yet.....

if you prefer Oxford, so choose it,     I completely gave up MBS now......

anyway. I got following little stastics from CASS, it is not formal, not detailed and it is from admission office but not from career office.

however, if last figures were right, at least give me some inspirations........

the nearer London, the more opportuanity after gradaution. MBS' decline is ralated to the economy status of manchester city.

the size&diversity of job market of London and Man are totally differnent, liken to Shanghai and Nanjing.
