如果你想有一份不错的收入，又能在大学里面教书，做研究，并且拿tenure的话，商学院是一个蛮不错的选择。另外，他们很成功地控制了学生数量，使得整个就业市场供需平衡。只要你进去了，基本上就可以保证一条不错的路给你走下去。竞争方面还是蛮激烈的，但是进去后就不如其他专业内部竞争那么激烈，毕竟是人均可用的资源多呀。

对于他们来说，学科的长远发展更为重要。其实每个基础学科都如此。可以想象，没有过往众多的经济学博士生，就没有今日繁荣的经济学帝国－从理论到方法。在商学院里面都是应用性的学科，没有整一套自己的理论框架，大多都是借用其他基础学科的理论和方法。商学院教授需要的只是一小撮“smart”又有“拿来主义”的继承者而已。博士生的“少而精”才是根本。

关于管理类的offer，大多数都在美国人的手上。据我所知，top schools的offers集中在少部分人的手上，而这些人基本上己经做出了决定，该decline的都declined了。那些top但不是h/s/w极有可能在发waiting list的offers。另外，因为hbs不会在march 9th之前发完offers (this is its internal deadline for all divisions)，这些人还在等hbs的消息。hbs的ob已经发了，其中一个拿到offer是中国mm，本科和研究生都是harvard的。

你说的Cornell是business school发的还是ILR school发的？什么项目？
从录取比例而言，我觉得经济学的竞争也很厉害的。我们学校今年收到经济学申请310份，一般也就录取10个吧。
和一个教授聊了一下，他说会计就业形式就是比金融好－我很纳闷。

希望top的学校快发完offer，最牛的那一部分人withdraw，能发出一些offer来。不过如果现在还没有什么动静的话，估计也很难有什么结果了。

个人感觉，与mba不同，ranking在商学院phd program选择中并不是太重要的指标，关键是在你和这个学校和他们的phd program之间寻找倒一个good fit。找到对自己来说最适合的program才不会后悔！
I agree that accounting has the best offer at entry-level in biz school. However, we need to take a look at those tenured professors. Across all fields, the variation within senior faculty group is much smaller than that within junior faculty group. It means that you can get the similar pay once you are successful in your own field. So, go for a field you are really interested in, and don't make a blind decision.
