我问的是题外话：
句中的parallel to shore是不是形容词短语修饰breakwater，但因为breakwater后面有复杂的修饰成份所以parallel to shore前置了？
如果是，大家还看见过类似的句子吗？

是的. 类似的句子在杨鹏的那个难句教程里挺多的. GMAT里肯定也有的.

The reason of the inversion is that the 'that' modifying 'a breakwater' has to follow ' a breakwater'. Because the attributive clause led by 'that' is so long that the writer has to place the 'parallel to shore' before ' a breakwater'.

'absorbing' and 'protecting' both are participle adverbial phrases in the attributive clause, the subject of them is 'waterbreak'. It is the 3rd time I choose the wrong answer of this subject, committing same fault 3times. I always marked A without noticing the 'protecting'. 5555555.....
