115. Any medical test will sometimes fail to detect a condition when it is present and indicate that there is one when it is not.

(B) when a condition is present and indicate that there is one
(C) a condition when it is present and indicate that it is present
(D) when a condition is present and indicate its presence（C）
(E) the presence of a condition when it is there and indicate its presence

OG在解释A、B不对时说：
In choices A and B, the phrase indicate that there is one does not grammatically fit with when it is not because it has no referent.
ETS是不是说同一个condition，不能既用one，又用it来指代呢？

我觉得从语法上看，indicate that there is one when it is not，it 应该在理论上指代ONE，因为ONE是主句主语，但是这是混乱的，因为本身ONE就是在指代别的。所以，IT在这种结构里应该是没有明确的指代对象。

我同意braveMBA, 再有两个或两个以上的相同代词连续出现在句子中的时候，不能在其中插别的代词，否则有歧义

在代词中,是不是用it , its ,itself.都必须指同一个事物,在中间不能出现其它东西.否则会歧义.

有一个OG131,的D中,its rise has been expected , 前面有个inflation,这样的情况下,算不算没有歧义啊?

有几个疑惑再请教一下，这个题我也一直是迷迷糊糊的，每次做都想不太清楚。

C.    a condition when it is present and indicate that it is present
D.    when a condition is present and indicate its presence
E.    the presence of a condition when it is there and indicate its presence
Only choice C, the best answer, produces a sentence in which every pronoun it refers clearly and logically to the noun condition. In choices A and B, the phrase indicate that there . is one does not grammatically fit with when it is not because it has no referent. Choices B and D are imprecise in saying that a test will fail to detect when a condition is present, since the issue is the presence and not the timing of the condition. Further, its presence in D leaves the it in when it is not without a logical referent: it must refer to condition, not presence. Choice E repeats this error; also, the presence ... when it is there is imprecise and redundant.

1）    A的错误除了这里说的it指代不清楚以外，是否还有问题。把整个句子连起来看“fail to detect a condition when it is present and indicate that there is one when it is not.”，这里最后的时间条件从句“when it is not”是否不完整？因为在C中，not后面其实是省略了“present”的。在A中的这种情况下，是否也可以看成省略了“there”呢？
改成如下这个样子，对嘛？
“fail to detect a condition when it is present and indicate that there is a condition when a condition is not (there).”

2) 按照这里的对D和E错误的解释， “when it is not”中的it都是就近指代的。It的指代原则是这样嘛？应该是先指代主句的主语嘛？
比如D：“fail to detect when a condition is present and indicate its presence when it is not.”这里最后的“it”是优先指代condition呢，还是就近指代“presence”，还是说因为都有可能，所以是不确定，所以错。？

其实OG解释的意思就是句子最后那个It指代不清，而不是前面选项的it。
