68. After the Colonial period’s 50 percent mortality rate, life expectancy improved for children, but as late as the nineteenth century about one child in three died before reaching the age of six.

感觉C中的life expectancy 主动improve不合适呢，不知道该怎么理解？

即使改成life expectancy for children improved，前面的After the Colonial period’s 50 percent mortality rate，和后面的but都有问题

还是不明白，能具体解释一下么，都是什么问题，我怎么就看不出来，郁闷。谢谢。。。

前面的the Colonial period’s 50 percent mortality rate是什么意思呢? the Colonial period的50 percent mortality rate?显然表达不对，应该是在the Colonial period这段时间中，mortality rate was 50 percent, 象c中用了during which清楚的表达了这个意思，至于后面but, 表转折，关系不对

我把c代进去，但是没办法明白整个句子的意思和结构。althought。。，which。。。，主句呢？

这5个选项读起来感觉都怪怪的。

但是本人觉得一般有什么DESPITE/EVEN THOUTH/WHILE/ALTHOUGH这几个词的，一般都选although
