(greetings)
I am writing in regards to your PhD application for the Finance Department at
Kellogg School of Management.  Professor Arvind Krishnamurthy, PhD coordinator,
would like to schedule a time to have a 30 minute phone conversation in order to
discuss your application and answer any questions you have regarding the
program.  He would like to do this next week, and is available  as follows:
(long list of time slots of next week)

so you will be interviewed by one professor only? or there would be several other profs?

re #6: sorry i don't know whether or not there will be more than one professor in the interview. all the info was in that email posted up there. but i will post about that upcoming interview once it's over.

re #4: my background is not stellar at all. no paper, some research experience as an RA in a master's program in a US school that doesn't even have a doctoral program in economics, which means it's not a research university although it's got some reputation in the quality of the students, mainly undergrads. and i m not interested in the research i did. (i was assigned to that professor rather than chose that field. ) i do have some working experience, back in China and now in the US, both finance related - previously in a financial institution; now in the asset management field. my professors in the US school wrote me recommendation letters, three of them. i took GMAT last Nov, after spending about 5 hours reviewing it - not that i was lazy but there was a good reason for this - and scored 740. not a high score for a chinese student who aimed at top programs.
i've been feeling rather pessimistic about the prospect of my application. even though there presented this interview, i still feel that it's out of my reach to get in, considering all those qualified applicants like you guys here. HOWEVER, i will stretch as much as i could to see how far i could reach.

good luck.

btw: which direction are you interested in? i mean corporate finance or asset pricing. I think kellogg has more focus on corporate finance.

Good Luck!

This means your chance of being admitted increases to 50% from 2%.

Usually they will interview  twice as many persons as they will admit. I think that is a rule of thumb, as told by the director of vanderbilt.
