标题: 大家对加拿大的商学院PHD有什么看法？

面前得到一个PHD的OFFER，加拿大前三的一个学校，让本周给出决定。美国的学校排名五十左右的一个学校已电话面试但OFFER未给。。。。。。。

UCLA这个档次的学校还未给任何消息。。。。

不知如何取舍？想听听大家的建议

看你以后的毕业去向吧。如果在加拿大工作的话加拿大那家可以考虑啊我认为。

One bird at hand is better, I think. Or you may email other universities to push them to make the decision. Actually, Canadian universities can provide excellent doctoral education.

Queen, western Ontario, Alberta, Toronto, or UBC, any one of above schools is pretty ok
overall rank in North America: Toronto and UBC about top 50; the rest three around 100

Is Alberta good enough in CA? I mean Ph.D. in Econ.

Although Alberta's rank is good, professors say that it is not good.

I don't think alberta is good in Business related fields. McMaster is even better...

Some famous professors in Calgary U and its MBA is also very good. Actually, Calgary is a growing and relatively low tax city in Canada.

calgary is a 2nd-class school, business school is just so so, and the place is very very cold, not friendly, plus, its business school does not have enough $ for PhD students at this moment. anyway,no recommendation

I personally feel that it's hard to tell the overall ranking of a Canadian B-school. What's most important is whether your dept enjoys high reputation and whether your potential supervisor/coauthors have good network in top US schools. Academic is a small circle.

Life in Canada is not very convenient. Sigh...

I'm also quite curious: which schools are top 3 in Canada?

talking about Phd programs, UofT is the solo best, especially in Finance, where it can be compared to top 20 programs in the state. Queens has a small but strong program. UWO Ivey has a famous MBA program, but just so so in Phd education. York U is pretty good in finance, not so much in other disciplines. UBC's Phd in Econ is great, but its B-school programs are not up to par, yet. Mcgill is just ok. Simon Fraser is up and coming, but still has a long way to go. That's about it.

就FINANCE来说,Rotman的确应该是最好.但是我就奇怪了,为什么好象ROTMAN的FINANCE PHD PLACEMENT好象还不如UBC呢?

UBC FINANCE近几年有进UCLA,UT AUSTIN(2),和UC BERKELEY的.

ROTMAN PLACEMENT比较好的没怎么听说过啊?
