昨晚刚刚结束第一所学校的phone interview(一会把面经奉上)，今天就收到第二所学校寄来的email requesting interview：

The Admissions Committee has met and screened our applicants for the Ph.D. Program. We have some excellent candidates, but the Committee was impressed with your background, interests, and focus. Our process involves us now conducting personal interviews with the remaining candidates. As such, we would like to invite you for an interview with the Committee. We would like to conduct this interview in person, but that may not be viable for you. Given the distance, we would be happy to do it by telephone.

这表示我被放在waiting list了吗？实在不懂，为什么这学校已经有了 excellent candidates，却还要 interview “the remaining candidates”…

他们担心他们的top candidates不去他们学校，这个是很正常的

不sure算不算waiting list，不过既然是机会就好好把握一下吧

Did you get moved from the waiting list to the admissions list in 2005? This business school is around top80; the ranking of the specialization, according to USNEWS MBA ranking, that I am interested is around top25. Not a top school. I hope that people who are on its admissions list will attend some other top school and leave a vacancy for me. What do you think about my chance?

By the way, why does a school inform an applicat that she/he is on its waiting list? Schools need to conduct an interview to make their waiting list? So weird....

acturally,some schools decide all the positions before interview, and tell you your situation by phone or email, but it is nearly impossible to change the order before other guys make the decision.
